Map showing location of Wiveliscombe

Wiveliscombe is a small town in West Somerset. It lies about 9 miles west of Taunton and has a population of just under 3,000. There has been human habitation in the area since at least the Stone Age with the Neolithic hillfort of King's Castle just to the east of the town. Also nearby are the Iron age hill fort of Clatworthy Camp and Elworthy Barrows, actually an unfinished Iron Age hill fort. Just five miles from the Devon border, Wiveliscombe is situated at the foot of the Brendon Hills and acts as a gateway to Exmoor.
