Larger map
Crewkerne is a small market town in south Somerset, roughly midway between Yeovil and Chard and close to the Dorset border.
First mentioned in the Will of King Alfred the Great in 899, when it was known as 'Crocern'. The town of Crewkerne grew in medieval times as a centre for the textile trade.
Today the town is well served by transport links sited alongside the A30 trunk road and with its own railway station to London Waterloo or southwest to Exeter and beyond.
Crewkerne had a population of just under 7,000 in the last census.
