The Duke of Wellington first opened in 1820 as a traditional coaching inn and posting house. The hotel is a main focal point of Wellington Square and the town centre of Minehead a bustling seaside town with attractions to suit a large range of people. It is home to West Somerset Railway running several steam trains throughout the day over the summer period. Minehead is also famously home to the family amusement park Butlins where any of our guests could visit after purchasing a day s pass. Minehead is on the north coast of Somerset boasting some fabulous sea views. It is also known as The Gateway to Exmoor as it is nestled in the centre of Exmoor National Park. Please note -The Lloyds No.1 music venue is on the side of the hotel and open until 2.30am on a Friday and Saturday. Some rooms may experience a degree of noise from the Lloyds No.1 bar. The Langbury

The Langbury is the large Edwardian home of Nigel and Paula Smythe. Originally built as a gentlemans residence, it stands in its own grounds set in an elevated position in the small coastal village of Blue Anchor, near Minehead.
Here you will find a friendly welcoming atmosphere combined with individual attention and an excellent Aga cooked, locally sourced, breakfast.
Accommodation is provided in five individually furnished rooms which all enjoy magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor and the Quantocks which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year.
The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Station where you can board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway - the longest preserved railway in the country.
We are approximately half a mile outside of the Exmoor National Park and three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairytale National Trust Castle. The traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles to the west and the ancient harbour town of Watchet three miles to the east.
We have two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and one ground floor twin bedroom which is ideal for the less mobile. Also our large family room can sleep up to four and can also be booked as a double or twin room. (Please note we do not accommodate children under 8).
