Minehead Terminus

Minehead Terminus beach, Somerset

Minehead is one of Somerset's busiest holiday resorts with many amenities. Situated to the west of the main Strand Beach, Minehead Terminus is a northeast facing pebble and shingle beach that tends to be more popular with windsurfers and kite-surfers. Families tend to favour the Strand Beach.

Near the harbour, the beach is cut by rocky breakwaters or groynes, structures attempting to reduce erosion of the beach by longshore drift.

All the usual facilities are available in Minehead itself. There a several car parks in the immediate area. Long Stay car parks include the Station car park, North Road car park and Clanville, or Summerland for short stay parking.

Minehead town lies within easy walking distance with amusement arcades or trips on the steam driven West Somerset Railway if the weather is changeable.

Minehead is also the starting point for the 630 mile long South West Coast Path that wends its way around the coast of the South West to Poole in Dorset. The eyecatching bronze monument above the beach is based on a design by a local art student.

A seasonal dog ban is in force with dogs banned from May 1st to September 30th inclusive. They are permitted east of the golf course (towards Dunster) and west of the harbour (towards Porlock).
