If you re looking for a relaxed and friendly retreat with a touch of luxury in an historic setting - somewhere where you can take a deep breath and unwind following a day out exploring the Somerset and the Mendip Hills - then the historic grade II listed Longbridge House is the B&B for you. br / br / br / br / With parts dating back to the 14th Century the house is best known for being where the Duke of Monmouth stayed before and after the Battle of Sedgemoor in 1685 before he was killed by Hanging Judge Jeffries in the Bloody Assizes. The house is also locally famous for being where John Lewis (of John Lewis Partnership fame) lived for much of his childhood alongside a very successful local and international business man John Collett. In more recent years the house has been owned by the Bishop of London who performed the wedding ceremony of William and Kate. br / br / br / br / Chill out after your journey enjoy the homemade cake in your bedroom the Monmouth Room with a pot of tea or cafetiere of coffee. Or relax outside watching the birds on the birdfeeder our own chickens scratching around & plan your stay using our books and maps. br / br / br / br / We have 3 rooms available each with king-size beds the Monmouth Room the Bishops Room and the Collett Room. The Monmouth room has an en-suite bathroom with a roll top bath and the Bishops and Collett Room have en-suite shower rooms. Maplestone is situated in the historic Mendip market town of Shepton Mallet in Somerset.

The house, now the home of Donald and Gillian Sinclair, has a picturesque walled garden and is built into an ancient quarry.

Originally 17th century weavers' stone cottages, it is hidden in the old part of Shepton Mallet in a unique muddle of manors, mills and cottages which run along the Sheppey River valley.

At Maplestone we are able to offer comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in our characterful cottage interiors. There is a guest wing so the feel is private and both the cottage and the bedroom called 'Oak' have separate entrances. We are within walking distance of town and a number of good restaurants and pubs, Kilver Court and the Mulberry Factory Shop.

We have a wireless connection, ample parking and accept most credit cards.

The Bothy at Manor Farm

The Bothy at Manor Farm

The Bothy at Manor Farm comprises a detached studio for 2 people (an extra adult/child can be accommodated at 20pppn) It is situated in the garden of our house in Sticklinch - a hamlet located between Pilton and West Pennard in rural Somerset. The Bothy is an excellent base within easy reach of Glastonbury Wells and many other attractions. The Bothy which is available for stays of two nights plus has its own entrance and parking and is a cosy bolt-hole for getting away from it all alternatively an ideal lock-up & leave base from which to explore the area. This single-storey barn has recently been refurbished and equipped to provide comfortable accommodation which is smartly decorated and well lit. There is an open-plan area with a double bed also a sleeping platform (accessed by a ladder) with a 5 wide futon bed. Facilities for making light meals comprise a kettle small fridge toaster & microwave. There is a TV/DVD also a shower room with WC. Outside guests have the use of garden. Amenities: Bed linen towels electricity & electric heating included. A put me up bed can also be provided. When the Glastonbury Festival is held we provide a comfortable venue for a limited number of festival goers either accommodated in the Bothy or in a range of accommodation in the lovely garden. We are a 10 minute (almost level) stroll from the Festival site. The Bothy is available on a self-catering basis or with breakfast foods provided. Breakfast is continental and is taken in the Bothy itself. Local products are used as much as possible which is made up of breads jams yoghurts orange juice etc A two bed/4 person Cottage (adjoining the owner s property) is also be available to rent.
